Obituary for Ralph Zarate Jr.

ZARATE, Ralph Jr., 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 16, 2018. Ralph was born on October 26, 1953 in Tucson, AZ to Ralph and Norma (Verdugo) Zarate. He graduated from Tucson High Magnet School in 1972 and joined the US Army in 1973, where he served our country until 1976. Upon returning to Tucson, he married his love of his life Lupita on January 14, 1977. Ralph worked for ASARCO mines as a Diesel Mechanic for 26 years and enjoyed every moment. His hobbies included coaching both his boys Little League teams, hunting, and watching his favorite football teams: the U of A Wildcats and the Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lupita (Daniels) Zarate; two sons Ralph (Sonia) and Matthew (Sonia); five grandchildren, Samantha, Cynthia, Matthew, Andrew and Adrian; two sisters Delia (Ruben) and Darlene; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph Zarate Sr. and Norma Verdugo Zarate.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 from 4:00pm-7:00pm, Rosary at 7:00pm at Abbey Funeral Chapel, 3435 North 1st Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85719. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 8:00am at Saint Kateri Church, 507 W. 29th Street, Tucson, AZ 85713; followed by graveside service with Military Honors at 11:00am at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery-Marana, 15950 N. Luckett Rd, Marana, AZ 85653. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Family Restoration Community Church, 2425 N. Huachuca Dr. Tucson, AZ 85745. Abbey Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
