Obituary for Shari Rae Crawley (Lichtenberger)

Shari R. Crawley passed away lovingly with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Born December 25, 1946 in Tacoma, Washington she was referred to as a “Christmas Baby.” Her younger years were spent as a “Military Brat” where she, her sister Berna, and parents Kenneth and Lee Lichtenberger lived in several places including California, Texas, and Morocco. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1959 where Shari finished her education at Rincon High School. Her fondest childhood memories were the years her family spent in Morocco and days spent along the ocean.

The next years of her life led her to working as a nurse in Washington and then working in the aerospace field in California. In 1968 while living in California, she met and soon married the love of her life, Charles R. Crawley. Upon setting eyes on her the first time, the strapping young Marine, announced to his best friend that she was the woman he was going to marry. After a whirlwind courtship, Shari and Charles were married six weeks later, on April 12,1968. Over the next several years, Shari and Charles, with children Kenny and Tammy lived in California; Illinois; Colorado; and then settling in Tucson, AZ in the 1970’s.

Shari’s greatest joys and priorities in life were God and her family. She also loved music, dancing, bowling, painting, all sorts of arts & crafts, and gardening, but mostly she loved spending time with her beloved family. There was no greater sight than to see Shari, a tiny 5’4 woman with Charles a 6’4 big strapping man as they cut the rug to Elvis, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams , you name it they could turn heads when they got on the dance floor. She was also known as a strong driven lady -there was nothing she couldn’t do or handle. In fact, in the mid 1980’s, Shari left her job at Hughes Aircraft, obtained her Commercial Drivers License and hit the cross country road as Charles’ 18 wheeler semi-truck co-pilot. What a sight to see this little lady handling that big ol’ rig!

Shari was a staunch believer in the truth and doing the right thing; never hesitating to stand up for the underdog and assist others. She lived her life as a child of God and raised her children in the Christian beliefs and comfort of knowing her family would be together forever in heaven. Even in her last days she continued to verbalize her faith in knowing where she was going after this life. She was a lady of beauty, grace and dignity and will be forever missed.

Shari was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lee Litchenberger; and her sister Berna Shea. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Charles; son Kenny; daughter Tammy; as well as her wonderful best friend and aunt, Bev Litchenberger; cousins, and additional family members.

Services for Shari will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018. Visitation from 10:30 to 11:00 AM, with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM at Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church, 5360 E. Pima Street, Tucson, AZ 85712
