Obituary for Robert James Collins

Robert James Collins was born March 26, 1954 in Tucson, AZ. A life-long resident of Tucson, he passed away on August 3rd after a short illness. He was cared for respectfully and lovingly by the amazing staff of Diamond 3 at Banner University Hospital. He was joyfully baptized at the hospital on Aug 1st.

Bob attended Amphitheater High School in Tucson, where he loved sports and received many honors as an accomplished athlete. He was a hard-working student who never wanted to miss school. Due to his giving nature, Bob had an abundance of friends, at school, as well as the neighborhood he grew up in. Throughout his life, Bob loved music, moms good cooking, and going to baseball games. Bob was a huge fan of many sports.

He is survived by his step-father, Raymond Collingwood; sisters, Ruth Lancaster and Lydia Murray; brothers, Bill Cruz and Timothy Schaefer, all of Tucson, and sister Joyce Gaskin and husband Roger Gaskin of Rio Rancho, NM. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert B Collins and Frances L Collins-Cruz; his grandmother Eunice Zunick; his former step father, Bill R Cruz; and his "big brother", David B. Collins.

We will always remember Bob for his sweet disposition, his kindness to others, his big grins and the never-ending love he gave to all of us. A remembrance celebration of Bob's life will be announced in the near future.
"Bob, we know you are with God's angels now. Until We meet again, spread your big, handsome wings and fly."
