Obituary for Robert Carlton Buote

Robert "Bob" Carlton Buote passed away August 21, 2018. He was born February 14, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Woburn High School, class of 1950. He married Betty Jo Winham, his life partner and soul mate on, October 27, 1951. Robert joined the United States Air Force in July of 1950 and was assigned to Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona where he trained for high altitudes. In 1952 he was the first one to test the pressure suits worn by pilots for extreme altitude flying in the new high altitude flight chamber. He made the Air Force his life career until retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1973. After retiring, Robert went to work for Great Western Bank until 1979. He loved music. His favorites were Jazz and Love Songs, and He was a smooth dancer. His hobbies were restoring bicycles, and projects for the house and back yard which made it an oasis in the desert. His special place as a boy was the time he spent at the family cabin in Maine. He loved entertaining, spending time with his kids, grandchildren and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jo Buote; son, Robert Michael Buote and Evelyn Van Winkle; daughter, Cheri Reed; three grandchildren, Michael, Michelle and Mathew Reed; and two great-grandchildren, Sean Michael and Jeana Ann Reed. He is preceeded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Willhelmina Buote; and his sister, Barbra Adams; in-laws, Henry Carrol and Marguerite Louise Winham; his brother-in-law, Henry Carol Winham Jr. and his son-in-law, Gary W. Reed.
