SIERRA VISTA - Robert Gerard Lusignan, 80, passed away peacefully at the Arizona State Veterans home in Tucson on Jan. 6, 2017.
Bob was born in Hartford, Conn. He received a Bachelor of Science at the University of Connecticut. After ROTC, he spent his life as a helicopter pilot, both for the Army and for the private sector. He spent 24 ½ years in the U.S. Army with tours in Korea, Germany and other places. He flew at the Grand Canyon and worked at different jobs at the airport there.
At the Canyon, he met and married Cathrine (Bushner) Lusignan. He was a great friend of Bill W. He is preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, Arthur and Lillian Lusignan, his sister, Anne (Robert) Pinard. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cathy; and his children, Steve (Sally) Lusignan, Hope (Deb) Lusignan, and Ron (Jill) Lusignan of Georgia and Greg (Vadna) Lusignan of Arizona; his brothers, Art (Genevieve) Lusignan of New York, and Normand (Sally) Lusignan Connecticut; sisters, Diane (Henry) Hofmann of Florida and Gertrude Creed of Virginia; and grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at Our Lady of the Mountains at 1425 Yaqui in Sierra Vista at 10:30 a.m., preceded by a rosary at 10 a.m. There will be a luncheon following the mass. Any memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul at OLM or the Knights of Columbus at OLM.
Robert will be laid to rest with honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
