Obituary for Alice R. Brooker (Hohenbrink)

Our beloved mom, Alice Ruth Marcella Honhenbrink, Unterbrink, Brooker, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018. She was 89 years of age. Mom was born on April 30, 1929 In Kaleida, Ohio. She moved to Tucson, AZ in 1962 -1997. She then moved to Phoenix, AZ for the remainder of her life. She leaves behind a family that knows without a doubt that we will be together one day for all eternity. This was something she was sure of. Mom was very strong in her faith and if there is anything we have learned from her, it was how to pray. Her relationship with God is something she continuously relied on, which is something she would want us to depend on in a time such as this. When we think about Mom, we remember her strength. Even in the hardest of times, her faith was strong and she persevered through. Mom was full of fun, her smile was infectious as we see in the picture. That picture was taken on her 89th birthday. She wore a crown because we told her she was the Queen of the family. She smiled and took it off with a humble look about her.

She leaves behind surviving children Roger Carl Unterbrink (Vicki), Daniel Richard Unterbrink (Chris ), Judy Kay Furno (Ralph), Kathleen Ann Hoekema (Pearson), Janice Marie Mize (Greg); 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Kenneth Bernard Unterbrink, and Susan Ann Unterbrink.

She raised us to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We are not promised our next breath, but 2 Corinthian‘s 5:8 says, “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” We love you mom and we miss you every day… until we meet again in Heaven.

Mom will lay at rest at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson, Arizona 85705. Due to family out of state, a time TBD for family and friends to celebrate moms life will be posted soon. God Bless
