Obituary for Sharon "Del" Worley

SHARON “DEL” WORLEY

Sharon “Del” Worley, 76, passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2019 in Tucson, of natural causes. She was born in New London, CT, to Florimond and Priscilla Delforge. She is survived by her three daughters, Christine, Cathleen, and Shoshana; her step-daughter Kellie; her sister Dee; and her grandchildren, Mathew, Christopher, Andrew, Taylor, Reese and Rowan.

Del received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (1991, Prescott College), and her Master of Counseling (1994, University of Phoenix). During her long and distinguished career, she worked as a therapist in private practice, an administrator of a non-profit agency, and a clinical supervisor of counselors in training. She also was a consultant and trainer in the areas of addiction, Redecision Therapy, chronic pain management, and ethics. She was thrilled to pass on her knowledge by teaching at Pima Community College, Prescott College, and Ottawa University, and as a presenter at national and international conferences. She served on the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors, was involved in local and state professional organizations, and was co-owner of Southwest Institute for Group and Family Therapy. Del’s family was very proud of her 36-year sobriety, and she was a friend to many in the 12-step community.

Del was the rock of her family, and for many in the community, and she will be missed dearly. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, friends, coworkers, and clients, as well as for her laughter, humor, optimism, clear thinking, and kindness.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church located at 4831 E. 22nd Street, Tucson, AZ 85711. Fellowship will follow after the service. Flowers may be sent to the church, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Del’s name to The Haven of Tucson, https://thehaventucson.org/get-involved/donate/.
