Juan Fernando Ruiz Gomez “Tata”, 65
Juan earned his wings peacefully surrounded by family, on January 28, 2020, in Tucson, AZ. He was born in Mexicali, Mexico on January 16, 1955, to Ana Maria Gomez Balbastro & Alejandro Ruiz Arias. He was raised in Mexicali where he married Consuelo R Villapudua. They had 3 children and then moved to Rocky Point, living there for 9 years. Juan was a member of the Rotary Club and was very involved in helping his community. He had a passion for the ocean & enjoyed fishing and motorcycles. He loved sports including softball. As a young man, Juan played competitive softball on the weekends with teams formed of his brother, cousins, nephews and closest friends. He was a very fun and loving person. Juan moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2007, where he took the role of Tata, and his priority was always his grandchildren. He cherished and loved each one of them. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, loyalty, patience, kindness, intelligence, sense of humor and his love of good times spent with family and friends.
He will be forever loved and missed by Consuelo; his daughters Rocio Phielix (Mark), Karla Valenzuela (Fernando) & son Juan Fernando Ruiz; grandkids Jeancarlo, Angelique, Junie, Duvan, Dara, Jason, Fernando & Paloma; siblings Cecilia, Grace, Amanda, Alejandro "Piri", Barbara; and many nieces and nephews. Juan was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Lupita; and granddaughter Dorlette.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 10:00 am to 11:15 am at Abbey Funeral Chapel, 3435 N. 1st Avenue, Tucson, AZ, 85719.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 12:00 pm, Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 601 E. Ft. Lowell Road, Tucson, AZ. A reception will follow at Abbey Funeral Chapel, concluding at 4:00 pm.
