Elizabeth Barteck Griess, born August 15, 1920, Elizabeth passed away on May 3, 2020. in Tucson, AZ. She grew up in the small town of Madrid, Nebraska, with her sister Mary Clare and brother Robert. Upon high school graduation she attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from Nursing School at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska. This is where she met Donald F. Griess, who was a medical student at the time. After a brief courtship, he asked her to marry him and she joyfully agreed to accept his proposal. They moved to Rochester, Minnesota for Donald's Fellowship at Mayo Clinic. While living in Rochester, their son, Donald R. Griess was born. In 1948 they moved to Tucson, AZ to start their life together in Arizona. In their medical practice in Tucson, Betty served as both Office Nurse and Business Manager. Upon retirement in 1983, Betty and Don enjoyed traveling and seeing the world together with many wonderful trips.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Donald F.Griess;and her sister, Mary Clare, both in 2003.

She is survived by her loving son, Donald R. Griess and his wife Karen.
