Obituary for Charles Arthur "Chuck" Bruhn
Charles Arthur Herman "Chuck” Bruhn, passed away on June 4th, 2020 in Green Valley, Arizona, from a heart attack. Chuck was born August 14th 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a son of Walter Bruhn Sr., and Marie (Hill) Bruhn . He attended UW-Madison and graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a Bachelors of Science in Business. Chuck worked the majority of his life as a manager of both Kroger and Kohl’s Grocery stores. His last job was in sales with PACQ Inc., selling promotional products.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Kathryn "Kathy" (Wolk) Bruhn of Green Valley, AZ, and Shawano, WI; two daughters, Sue Bruhn (Mike Kane) of Bedford, MA, and their children Noah (San Francisco, Ca) and Tyler (Tulsa, Ok): and daughter Tammy Merrill (Robert Merrill) of Puyallup, WA, and their daughter Kari (Los Angeles, Ca). Chuck was beloved by his nieces and nephews, Jane, Debbie, Mark, Bill, Carrie, Chris, and Geoff; as well as his godchildren; and many friends.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marie; and his siblings, Walter Bruhn Jr., Lori Bentz and Lillian Dahnke.
Chuck and Kathy were charter members of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Racine, WI, and he held executive positions there, and at Zion Lutheran Church, Shawano, WI. He and his wife Kathy were also active members at Desert Hills Lutheran Church in Green Valley, Arizona. He was a member of Kiwanis and participated in, and ran many of their events. Chuck was a member of the Loon Lake Association, and was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers.
He was a proponent of the “bonus donut” as many times as he could get away with it and enjoyed boating around Loon Lake and spending time with family and friends. Chuck also enjoyed dancing and telling jokes.
Chuck was a lover of music who played bassoon, as well as other instruments and sang in the church choir. His favorite song was Fanfare of the Common Man by Aaron Copland.
There will be a Celebration of Chuck's Life later this summer in Wisconsin.
