Nellie G. Martinez, age 92, of Tucson, passed away peacefully into her heavenly home on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Nellie was born in the year 1928 in Playas, New Mexico. She married her love of her life, Manuel Martinez, in Lordsburg New Mexico in 1946. They were married for 69 years before her husband’s passing. They resided in Morenci, Arizona until her husband’s retirement. They moved to Tucson where they enjoyed their retirement with family: sons Raul (Ramona) Martinez, Daniel (Yolanda) Martinez; and daughter, Emma Carrillo; and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers; and sisters.

Nellie loved to cook for others and celebrate all occasions. She always decorated her home according to the season. Nellie had a kind soul and a smile for everyone. Her presence will be dearly missed. She leaves behind her sister Belen Rodriquez; and many nephews and nieces. Rest in peace, we will always love you and keep you in our hearts.

A Rosary will be recited from 10:00 am-10:30 am on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Abbey Funeral Chapel, 3435 North 1st Avenue Tucson, Arizona, followed by a public viewing from 10:30 am-12:30 pm. Committal Prayers and a private burial at the National Veteran Memorial Cemetery of Arizona will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
