Obituary for Virginia M. Lopez

Saturday October 17, 2020, the Lord welcomed our beautiful, beloved mother and grandmother Virginia.
She was born May 1, 1939 in the great city of Chicago to Nicholas and Marie Vizzone. She was the second oldest in her Italian clan and the only girl. When she was 14, her family moved to Morgan Hill, Ca. then a year later settled in Los Angeles, Ca.
She met our Dad, Rene, through her best friend, and his cousin on Halloween night of 1970. Four months later they were married.
In 1973, they had their first daughter, Cathleen and then welcomed their second daughter, Nicole in 1975.
The family moved to Tucson in November of 1980. They purchased and ran the Monterey Motel for a few years before Ginny decided to go to work for the state of Arizona for almost 20 years.
She spent 20 years taking care of her soul mate Rene throughout his bout with Multiple Sclerosis before he passed in 2015.
Ginny loved reading and especially anything about Native American history and the history of Arizona.
She is survived by her brother Michael Vizzone of Texas; her daughter Cathy Lopez and Cathy's partner William Hobson and their daughters Olivia and Isabella and Nicole Jacinto and Nicole's husband Francisco and their children Tristan, Marisa, Giselle and Francisco.
She also loved her fur grandchildren, Kenai, Coco and Rabbit.

A Memorial Mass is planned for Saturday November 14th, at 10am at Sacred Heart Parish on Ft. Lowell Road.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Southern Arizona or the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
