Obituary for Jay M. Petty

Jay M. Petty
Jay M. Petty, a long time resident of Elgin, Arizona, passed peacefully on August
18, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. He was 90 years young.

At the moment of his passing, his daughter Susan and son-in-law Kevin were at his
side along with the truly amazing and wonderfully caring people of Peppi’s house
(TMC Hospice in Tucson, Arizona).

Jay was born in Deseret, Utah to Heber and Dorothy Petty. Jay was always a hard
worker and a World War II Army Veteran. While in the service of the Army, he
achieved the rank of Corporal, served as an MP (Military Police), trained as a
Medic and enjoyed boxing in his spare time.

After his service in the Army ended, he became an accomplished Aerospace
Engineer where he worked on many significant, well known projects. Most
notably these included the Apollo “Moon” missions, The Alaska Pipeline and
delivering the Nuclear Fuel rods necessary to secure the Panama Canal. In his
spare time he played minor league baseball and coached little league teams.
Most importantly, Jay loved his family. He was a loving husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, mentor and friend.

Jay loved living in the country and enjoyed being outdoors. He planted and
nurtured the trees on his property in Elgin with the same care and love as he did
with all the important people in his life. His wife Anna and son Jay continue to
reside in the family home he loved so much. He treated everyone in his life with
Love, caring, and kindness. Jay will be greatly missed by all of his family and
friends. We will especially miss his positive, upbeat attitude and smile.
