Obituary

Joe R. Carrasco passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at the age of 60, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe graduated from Flowing Wells High School in 1975 and went on to attend and graduate from the Police Academy, where he found his calling. Joe started his career as a law enforcement officer at the Tucson Police Department in 1980, before spending 26 honorable years from 1983 to 2009 at the Marana Police Department. He rose in the ranks from Officer, Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, before finally retiring as a Commander. His service to the community didn’t stop there. He finished his career as Director of Security at Northwest Medical Center. Joe won countless awards spanning his entire career, most recently as manager of the year at Northwest Medical Center in 2016.

Joe married JoAnn Ramos on November 15, 2003. They had just enjoyed celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary.

Joe enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Joe was a true family man and loved his wife, 4 children, and 1 grandchild dearly. He also had countless friends as he was one of the kindest and most genuine men you could ever meet. Joe was a beacon of inspiration to those he mentored. His contagious smile, laugh, jokes, hugs and infectious personality will be greatly missed.

Joe is survived by his wife JoAnn; his son Zachary; his daughters, Ashley her husband Jeremy, Alexandra, and Ryan; his grandchild Fletcher; his mother Dora; sisters, Norma her husband David, Leticia and her partner Dan, and Yolanda. Joe was preceded in death by his father Raul Carrasco.

Joe will never be forgotten and he will always remain in our hearts.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Abbey Funeral Chapel, 3435 N. 1st Avenue, Tucson, Arizona, 85719. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, Tucson.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial contributions be sent to the Go Fund Me account below. With all the emotional pain and stress of losing Joe so suddenly and unexpectedly, it also brings financial burdens. We are trying to raise money for JoAnn and Joe's two young children with any costs they will incur, and to help wherever needed.

To the Family, so sorry for your loss. Hope you will be comforted in knowing that Joe has the prospect of being resurrected, healthy (in the flesh), to Paradise Earth just as Jehovah God has promised. In fact , the vast majority will enjoy everlasting life right here on earth as God had intended from the beginning. God's Kingdom will do this under the rule of Jesus Christ. Joe, you will be missed by everyone who knew you. It was a pleasure meeting you & working with you @ the hospital. If we all were as good of a person as you were, the world would be a happier and better place. Thank you for the friendly smiles and hello's every time I saw you @ work. I'll miss those the most. Until we meet again....Jody
