The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Fred Pandow can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

My Gramps

Fred Pandow

When I was a kid he was always quick to tell a really terrible knock knock joke.  He always had some kind of -sicle in his freezer: Orangesicle..popsicle..fudgesicle.  He probably spent 10,000 man hours trying to fix the door on our lopsided, should have been torn down, piece of junk garage.  Whenever Mom needed something fixed....gramps was there a half hour later with his toolbox. He was a terrible dominoes player.  Mom, Gram and Gramps and I played hundreds of games and I think he won maybe 10%.  I have the burning suspicion he let Grams and I win. He hated Reagan and wasn’t afraid to tell you about it.  He wasn’t the most emotional guy.  He was the epitome of the 1950’s dad.  Strong, stern, thick exterior that was hard to break through.  But when I first walked into the house when Grams was dying, he and I both burst into tears and it was one of the most precious and heartbreaking moments of my life.  The walls came down in an instant and I got to see the real Fred.  He was pretty much a big softy after that.  I hope you are somewhere dancing with Grams looking funny as heck because of the 2 foot height difference.  I’ll miss you Gramps.
